Docker Containers Overview
In addition to the K3s Kubernetes cluster, MEGATRON runs several workloads directly on Docker. These are services that either predate the K3s setup, require direct hardware access (GPU), or are managed by external tools (Coolify).
Docker vs K3s
| Aspect | Docker Containers | K3s Pods |
|---|---|---|
| Management | docker CLI, Docker Compose | kubectl, Helm, Kustomize |
| Networking | Docker bridge, port mapping | K3s CNI (Flannel), ClusterIP/NodePort |
| Storage | Docker volumes, bind mounts | PVCs, Longhorn, local-path |
| GPU Access | --gpus flag via NVIDIA runtime | GPU Operator, device plugin |
| Service Discovery | Manual / Docker DNS | CoreDNS, K8s services |
